Brushing and cleaning between the teeth
Want to avoid dental cavities? Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between your teeth once a day and limiting snacks and sugary drinks is the way to do it. It's simple, but sometimes the daily routine is hectic and you may be tempted to skip it. Don't. A bright smile makes you feel good inside and out. Also make sure you visit your dentist regularly.
Some things to protect your smile
Dental sealants
Dental sealants are a type of special plastic coating that acts as a barrier, protecting cavity-prone areas. They are usually applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth and are sometimes used to cover deep cavities and grooves in other teeth. Sealing a tooth is quick and easy. As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Talk to your dentist about sealants. Remember: Just because you have fillings doesn't mean you don't have to brush and clean between your teeth every day. Sealants offer additional protection from decay!
Protective Toothbrush
If you play a sport or are actively involved in things like skateboarding or martial arts, it's a good idea to wear a mouth guard. It may feel weird at first, but a mouth guard is the best thing you can do to protect your teeth from getting chipped or knocked out. They reduce bumps that would otherwise cause injuries to the lips and face and sometimes even jaw fractures.
